Bright but not perfectReview by Matthew
The ThruNite TH30 (neutral) was purchased when I was unable to source an Armytek wizard or elf in a short time. The efficient output of the TH30 was appealing and it does not disappoint in being a super bright headlamp. Actually its top output modes are more than I would ever use as a headlamp. However, there is one flaw in the unit that will make it unsuitable for some purposes. The beam colour is dramatically inconsistent across the spread with a noticeable violet hue in the centre, a warm colour across the much of the beam and returning to a publish hue in the outer spill area. Most of the time this will not be a problem (may actually be beneficial when trying to spot distant objects) but for anyone trying to use the light for photographic purposes, it will be unacceptable.
The accessories and spare parts supplied all seem to be reasonable.
The unit is not the lightest one of its type so if you are looking for a low weight option you may want to look at one of the other brands. I found the weight was acceptable for me. The amount of aluminium in the light head probably allows it to maintain high output for longer by providing a greater heatsink and radiating area.
The provided battery seems to be capable of the tall task asked of it. The onboard charging appears to do an adequate job.
In summary, if you just want a small super bright and efficient light, this one is worth considering but not a good unit for the photographers. (Posted on 5/01/2019)
